Stitching the Landscape

From walking the South West Cornish Footpath I was struck by reading how large open fields without boundaries were divided up: wheat, barley, beans, peas, turnips and red clover were worked into fifty four ‘stitches.’ In the prints I used lengthening fluid lines like threads that appear, disappear and reappear, stretching and connecting the images and at times flowing into each other. The prints are placed in an extending portfolio document case that can be viewed and handled as if experiencing the landscape unfurling through your hands.
