Bulrushes

From walking alongside the canal, mesmerised by a clump of bulrushes catching the morning light, I produced a series of linoprints, creating separate lino blocks which I treated rather like jigsaw puzzle pieces, experimenting with placing them across the prints and changing the printing sequence.

A Japanese woodblock printing course gave me the opportunity to rework the imagery in a different way. I made a simple book and inserted variations of my woodblock within it. The delicate printing technique and absorption of the water based printing inks produced a subtle, joyful exploration of waterside imagery.
